BioHeat: What Is It?
"BioHeat" is the home heating oil equivalent to biodiesel. Bioheat is a blend of standard heating oil and a mix of a renewable fuel made from vegetable oil, waste grease and/or other plant-based greases and oils. Today, BioHeat is readily available in Maine and an excellent supplement, or replacement for number 2 heating oil.
Benefits of using BioHeat
- Lower Maintenance: Cleaner filters, nozzles and strainers mean reduced maintenance costs.
- Cleaner: Improved exhaust odor and reduced emissions of sulfur oxide, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide and smoke.
- Local: BioHeat can be produced locally and renewably; keeping transportation costs down and jobs at home, reducing our dependence on mostly-foreign fossil fuels.
- Readily Available: There are over half a dozen regional suppliers of BioHeat, who will deliver directly to your home.
